11 THINGS GOING ON TO DO WITH THE FAMILY IN THANET, HERNE BAY AND WHITSTABLE DURING AUGUST

BROADSTAIRS FOLK WEEK: Friday 5th August 2022 – Friday 12th August 2022

Folk week is a fantastic family fun week in Broadstairs with all sorts to do. With food stalls, live music and of course the sandy Broadstairs beach, there is plenty for all the family to get involved with no matter the age.
MARGATE – MARGATE CARNIVAL: Sunday 7th August 2022

Margate’s Carnival, is a great day out to see an array of sites. From the queens and princesses of East Kent to the many different groups in the community and dancers coming from all over the UK.
BIRCHINGTON – KENT COUNTRY SHOW & FESTIVAL OF DOGS: Sunday 28th August 2022 – Monday 29th August 2022

Situated at Quex during the August bank holiday the Kent country show and festival of dogs in Birchington is full of lots of different shows, workshops and fun for all the family. With music, food stalls and demonstrations including falconry, motorbike displays, and an equestrian stunt team.

CLIFTONVILLE- FARMERS MARKET: Sunday 28TH August

An award-winning farmers market comes to Cliftonville again! Ok, maybe not for the kids but a good one for you to get some lovely food straight from some of the sources. This market has been coming to Cliftonville since 2001.

BROADSTAIRS – SUMMER FIREWORKS: Wednesday 17th August

Grab the kids and take them to the Broadstairs safer to watch the amazing firework display in the sky over Viking Bay which has been an annual tradition for years. There are usually a children’s fun fair rides and plenty of places to grab food and drink.
CLIFTONVILLE – NIGHT MARKET: Friday 5th,19th August 2nd, 16th September
PRICE: FREE
Situated at the popular oval band stand, which also has a bar that serves alcoholic drinks and cocktails and an oval kiosk with freshly ground coffee teas and ice creams for the kids. There are unique goods from Local makers and tasty dishes from around Kent. With live music and entertainment great family friendly Friday night out.
THANET BEACHES – SEASHORE SAFARIS: July 31st & August 1st – 5th, 15th – 18th

For all the family but suggests ideal for 4-11 years old
The seashore safari allows you to explore Thanet’s gorgeous coast and rock pools. Based around Thanet’s beaches and roughly lasts about 2 hours you get to explore the rock pools with Thanet coast volunteers to help identify the creatures and things you discover.

RAMSGATE – CONTRA POP FESTIVAL: Saturday 20th – 21st August
PRICE: FREE
Contra Pop is a 2-day festival with live performances from experimental artists. This is a wonderful way to see new diverse musicians and DJs for free on Ramsgate sands.
HERNE BAY – JAZZ & SWING FEST: Saturday 20th – 21st
PRICE: FREE
The home Bay jazz and swing festival has been a regular occurrence on the pair since 2017. It is a free festival with live music along with workshops in Jazz and music for all ages
WHITSTABLE – SUMMER FAIR AT WHITSTABLE CASTLE: Monday 29th August

For some affair at Whitstable castle, it is a wonderful place to pop down and check out the beautiful gardens, Numerous stools which sell drinks, food, craft and gifts. Plus, you’re up the road from Whitstable Sea front.
PETERS – St Peters Village Tour: Thursdays during August & September until the 15th and Saturday 8th September

Suggested age is 10+
Attend an award winning tour of St. Peters Village. With costumed characters from past centuries they take you on a fantastic tour of the St Peters Village with history of this glorious village.
